Coordinating Interior Woodwork

A full-home woodwork package works best when the rooms, finish palette and interfaces with building services are resolved together.

Define the woodwork package

Prepare a room-by-room schedule covering wall paneling, ceilings, wardrobes, libraries and fitted units. Identify which elements belong to the woodwork contract and which are supplied by other trades. Establish the intended proportions, timber character and finish palette across the home. This makes it easier to keep the design coherent while allowing individual rooms their own character.

Resolve storage and service interfaces

Plan wardrobe interiors around actual belongings, access and daily use. Review the relationship between cabinetry and sockets, switches, lighting, air conditioning and access panels. Concealed doors and flush junctions need agreed dimensions and construction details. Resolve these interfaces in shop drawings before manufacture so site adjustments do not drive the final appearance.

Agree approvals and installation sequence

Use finish samples to assess colour, sheen and grain in the room's lighting. Identify the stages at which site dimensions will be confirmed and adjacent work must be complete. Agree protection and storage arrangements before the timber work arrives. A clear sequence helps the architect, interior designer and site team coordinate the package without losing sight of the approved design.
