Establish the piece and its setting
Confirm the intended function, room dimensions and the clearances around the furniture. Consider access through doors, lifts and stairs at the destination. Reference images can communicate character, but the commissioned dimensions and construction must suit the actual setting. Identify whether the piece will be delivered assembled or in agreed components and how final assembly will be handled.
Approve materials and measurable details
Identify the solid wood components, timber species, joinery and finish. Where other materials or veneers form part of the design, record them in the specification. Approve dimensions and samples before production. Any reference to an international standard should name the actual applicable requirement rather than rely on a general claim; quality checks should be tied to the agreed specification.
Plan packing, transport and arrival
Discuss protective packing around the piece's dimensions, finish and route. Agree who arranges transport, insurance, customs clearance and unloading, and confirm any destination documentation before dispatch. The proposal should identify delivery responsibilities and any assembly or installation scope. Retain the approved drawings, care information and packing records so the destination team has the information it needs.
